Summer brings with it delicious fruits, vibrant flowers, and sweet fragrances. But it also brings with it, a plethora of skin issues, especially sweat rashes or heat rashes!

If you live in extremely hot or humid areas or just happen to be on a beach, or outdoors during summer, it is better to take a few precautions to avoid the dry itchy skin spots and bumps.
- Stay indoors during hot peak timings between 10 am to 4 pm
- If you need to go out, try and avoid the sun. Seek shade and cover yourself up.
- Stay hydrated by sipping water every now and then.
- Eat light meals and non – salty and non – oily food and snacks.
- Include fresh salads made of cucumber, lemon juice in water, and other citrus fruit juices in your diet.
- Eat foods that are rich in omega 3 fatty acids and beta – carotene. They prevent inflammation, boost immune system and hence reduce the incidence of itchy bumps on skin.

If, despite these precautions, you notice dry itchy skin spots and itchy bumps on your skin, you should take immediate measures to get rid of them. While in most cases, they cause nothing more than irritation and discomfort, prolonged exposure to heat and continuous heat rash could lead to high fevers, dehydration, fatigue, and sometimes heat strokes. - Take cool showers instead of hot or warm showers. This will help with the irritation and cools down your system. Soak in tub bath to which some Epsom salts have been added.
- As stated before, stay indoors during peak heat hours, from noon to five PM.
- Drink plenty of water-based fluids. Soda will only aggravate dehydration.
- Make cucumber pack and apply it every half an hour to one hour depending on how severe your dry itchy skin spots appear.
- Apply topical coolants like calamine lotion and aloe vera. Fresh aloe vera gel is greatly effective in healing heat rashes fast.
- Use primrose oil capsules to reduce itching and control swelling and pain.
- Wash your skin just enough to keep it clean. Do not use harsh body soaps and cleansers that could further dry the skin.
- Use a cool compress if the itchy bumps on skin are severe.
- If possible, soak in a bath of water and baking soda. This relieves itching and burning.
- Use a moisturizing lotion made of one hundred percent natural ingredients that do not make your skin greasy.
- Apply non-irritating sunscreen when going outdoors.
- Do not scratch the itchy bumps on skin. If they rupture, they will get infected and increase your discomfort. Some of these cases require antibiotics or steroidal treatment for healing.
- Take deep breaths- inhaling cool air and exhaling slowly. Deep inhalation and prolonged exhalation cools down your system very fast.
