Burns can occur due to fires, hot liquids or hot food, sunlight and even due to chemicals. Minor burns can be treated with healing and soothing home remedies; but, for the more serious burns, you must seek immediate medical attention. Sometimes, burns can penetrate deep into the skin where they could even damage the bone or inner tissues. Here are some quick fixes for treating burns fast:
Nothing beats good old H2O for treating burns. This is the first of all home remedies for healing the skin quickly. You can also apply ice as long as the skin is still intact. Burns could also dehydrate you, so make sure you sip plenty of water.
Onions, leeks and shallots have been used since centuries in Africa and India for healing burns. The reason could be due to their anti-scarring quercetin and allantoin compounds. Onions are also anti-inflammatory. You can make a poultice of mashed onions and apply to the skin. Another remedy is to boil some corn silk, onion skin and ginger and apply it to the burnt skin.
For quickly healing burns, apply a paste of crushed oatmeal (old fashioned or instant varieties both) in some water to the burns.
4. Green tea bags
The tannins and phytochemicals in brewed green tea can be applied topically to soothe burns. This popular Japanese remedy has been used for decades by healers who used Kampo tea on the burnt skin to prevent blisters. The tannin creates a protective membrane (eschar) on the skin to quickly heal infections.

14. Plain yogurt
Apply plain yogurt to the burnt skin as soon as possible to heal the skin quickly. This remedy will also stop the pain.
15. Aloe Vera
One of the best home remedies to heal blisters quickly is Aloe Vera. Cut open a leaf of Aloe Vera plant and apply the gel on the skin. This remedy instantly soothes the skin and prevents scars and blisters.
16. DIY homemade burn salve recipe
To make a homemade burn salve, use following ingredients:
- ½ cup raw honey
- 1 tbsp extra coconut oil
- 1 tbsp aloe vera gel
Mix all ingredients and store in a clean bottle or Mason jar. Use the salve right away. Both coconut oil and honey for burns are proven remedies which make this salve an ideal recipe for healing them faster. Use the mixture several times a day. If it crystallizes, simply place it in a hot water bath until the salve becomes liquid again.
17. Elderberry fruits
Rub the fruit and fruit’s skin of elderberries on the skin to heal burns quickly.
