Dark skin with a bronze texture is highly coveted by men and women around the world, especially ones of the Caucasian origins. However, most people hate having dark skin on their elbows and knees. What do dark elbows and knees indicate? The answer lies in the constitution of the skin in these areas. Compared to the skin elsewhere on the body, skin on the elbows and knees is a lot thicker. Therefore, dead skin accumulates in these regions and it is harder to remove. Both the elbows and knees are ball and socket joints that undergo plenty of wear and tear. This abrades the skin causing darkening. Dark patches on knees and elbows could also indicate thyroid issues or diabetes. Talk to your doctor if this is a concern and especially if your skin darkening is accompanied by spells of dizziness, weakness, depression or loss of appetite.
