Zinc deficiency is one of the common causes of infertility. It is also one of the most important fertility vitamins for males. Low zinc levels can impact sperm production. So couples should start taking zinc supplements at least 3 months prior to conception. Talk to your doctor about the right dosage of zinc for fertility. Men can take up to 50 to 10 mg Zinc citrate or picolinate to enhance sperm production. Foods rich in zinc are nuts, seeds, sea food etc.

It supports red blood cell formation and is also essential for baby’s DNA and RNA. 3. Fat soluble Vitamins

- Vitamin E-400 IU daily– This is an antioxidant vitamin needed for enhancing male fertility.
- Vitamin K supplements (women need not take a supplement as it could cause jaundice in newborns). One should try and get it through foods like Prunes, Spinach, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage and Broccoli.
4. Water soluble Vitamins
These include vitamins B complex and Vitamin C.These vitamins are not stored by the body and are expelled out. They are also destroyed by cooking. By consuming fresh, raw foods, you can get these vitamins naturally. Vitamin C dosage for men is up to 500 mg daily and it is necessary to prevent the sperm from clumping together. Women should not take too much Vitamin C as it could cause miscarriage in the early pregnancy. B complex vitamins are lost during stress and pregnancy. B vitamins also work together and need to be taken together as well. Taking B vitamins in isolation will not do you much good. In male infertility, one of the common causes is attributed to Selenium deficiency. Selenium is available through nuts and men should have plenty of Brazil nuts daily. Men and women must take up to 50 mcg of Selenium each day to boost fertility and get pregnant fast.
6. Omega 3 essential fatty acids
Essential fatty acids have a profound effect on every system of the body including the reproduction system. Omega 3 fatty acids are crucial for healthy hormonal balance and men need it even more than women do. The prostaglandin found in semen is also produced from these fatty acids. Men with low sperm count are often deficient in these essential fatty acids. Take 6000 to 9000 mg of Omega 3 essential fatty acids daily.
7. Saw palmetto
This is one of the main supplements to take to increase fertility in men. This herbal supplement increases blood flow to sex organs and promotes sexual health. Men can take up to 160 mg of saw palmetto.
This is an important amino acid supplement that men must take for normal functioning of sperm cells. Higher the levels of this amino acid, the better the sperm motility and sperm count. Men must take 2000 mg of L-carnitine daily. Also take up to 4000 mg of Acetyl-L-Carnitine daily for improving sperm mobility.
9. CoQ10 Enzyme
Take 100 mg daily to increase sperm count. Also known as ubiquinone, this is a protein enzyme required for all tissues of the body. For female fertility, the suggested dose is 100 to 300 mg in divide doses.
10. S-Adenosyl L-methionine (SAMe)
